The lumbar support for the seat backs of especially motor vehicle seats has a support plate (9) produced by plastic injection moulding and adjustable in its curvature and fixed on a support structure with wire-form longitudinal members (1,2,7,8) and cross members (3-6). Two of the vertically disposed longitudinal members pass through holes (9c) in the support plate. Flexible tabs (13) are formed on the support plate adjacent to the through-holes and lie with pretensioning upon the surface of the longitudinal members penetrating the through-holes. The flexible tabs are located on both sides of the upper and lower section of the support plate.
