The element i.e. base (2), has a flexible cushion (7) carried by a horizontal unitary support (6) e.g. monoblock plastic plate, and covering the support. A unitary flexible cap (8) covers the cushion, and is fixed to the support. The cushion is formed by different cushion blocks (7a-7c) separated and juxtaposed on the support. The cap forms compartments (9a-9e) receiving the corresponding cushion blocks. The cap is fixed to the support between two adjacent cushion blocks. The cap forms a fold (8b) between the adjacent cushion blocks, where the fold has a bottom (8c) fixed to the support. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a seat element.
