Industrial culturing equipment, where the group of modular bioreactors can be moved and is self-driven, is new. The tanks have provisions for exposure to radiation, temperature control and supply of culture medium. A hoist system enables lifting and horizontal translation. The culturing process operates with automatic agitation, monitoring and control. Vessels are controlled individually, and as a group. Preferred Features: Tanks include convex translucent panels enabling focusing, for optimum light penetration into the culture medium. A tubular source has translucent walls and an internal light source, for internal illumination of the culture. The reactors are capable of operation under increased pressure for more rapid assimilation of culture medium and control of chemical composition. Electromechanical- and pneumatic systems included in the module chassis, introduce solid, liquid and/or gas from storage vessels on the chassis, or through tube connections. Data processing equipment is also carried to receive, process and transmit culturing, control and inspection data. A bioreactor chassis supports artificial top-lighting. A completely translucent jacketed reactor provides for circulation of temperature-controlling fluid. There are provisions for filling and emptying this system. One ellipsoidal vessel has a moving curtain system, permitting reflection of top-lighting into the vessel. Lights are fixed to a sliding door of a vessel, and reflectors provide optimal illumination. Any evaporated tempering fluid is recovered. Simulation software is employed in the control process.
