The controller is of the type having a temperature regulator (7), using a proportional-integral-derivative regulator, PID, with air conditioning drive (8). Also included is an activator/inhibitor (13) of the integral action of the PID regulator as a function of the saturation or non saturation state of this regulator. The PID regulator (7) is connected as input to a temperature acquisition unit (1) which collects temperatures relative to a set level (2); automobile interior temperature (3), engine cooling liquid temperature (4) and automobile exterior ambient temperature (5). It also includes measurement of sun heating effect. The regulator is designed to drive actuators (9,10) of the air conditioning system so as to control the flow and temperature of air fed into the vehicle by the air conditioner. The unit (13) is designed to inhibit integral actions as long as the engine cooling liquid temperature has not reached a predetermined value. The unit is associated with a switch which delays switching between inhibition and activation states, the delay is based on integrated hysteresis at the regulator.
