The supply system is used with rail vehicles having conductive wheels electrically isolated from the vehicle chassis, and uses a very low voltage supplied to sections of the conductive rails (RA1, RA2). Current collectors (fr) are associated with at least two opposite wheels to pick up the necessary power for the vehicle's motor. Short circuit protection is preferably provided by the rails being mounted in trenches (S1, S2) , the space between them being given a banked profile. Maintenance of supply when the vehicle wheels are between energized rail sections is assured by means of super capacitors acting as electrical energy stores. An Independent claim is included for a railway line using the power feeding system of the invention.
