The gravel spreading device (4) is installed in the rear of a lorry (1) comprising a chassis (10) supporting a skip (3) containing gravel. The skip is articulated in the rear of the chassis and can tip upwards and rearwards to allow extraction of the gravel and its loading by the spreader. The spreader has control means (42), allowing the adjustment of the flow rate and/or the spreading width, accessible by an operator on the platform (43) of a gangway (40) located in the rear of the vehicle.
