The package (1) consists of a container (2) that serves as a bowl for consuming the product held in it, e.g. a prepared salad. A clip-on or screw lid (3) that covers the container (2) has a compartment (14) that holds a dressing for the main product. The compartment has its open end (16) covered by a seal (15) that can be pierced with holes (26) to allow the dressing to be sprinkled evenly over the main product. In a variant the lid with the compartment can be held inside the container under a seal prior to use, and removed and inverted over it before consumption.
