Use of multi photon microscopy to image particles delivered by needleless or transdermal injection.

A method of evaluating the delivery of particles to a target site in human or animal tissue, the method comprising the steps of: (a) delivering the particles to the target site using a needleless (or transdermal) injection device; and (b) imaging the target site using multi-photon microscopy. The method allows three-dimensional data for tissue in the target area to be obtained. The method can also be used to determine the presence or absence of an immune reaction at the target site. The particles used may be gold and may have a size in the range 0.1 - 250 žm.
