PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional composite material using a shape memory alloy, which always shows an adequate shrinkage effect around room temperature, needing no heating, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.;SOLUTION: The functional composite material is manufactured by preparing a shape memory alloy which has a phase transformation temperature equal to or lower than room temperature and exhibits an austenitic phase and a martensitic phase at the phase transformation temperature, forming the shape memory alloy into Ti-Ni shape memory alloy wires having an adequate recovery stress around room temperature, caking the wires with a basic resin material, and molding the resultant caked product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
