PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assay technique for fractionating and determining an mRNA encoding rat cytochrome P450 molecular species and to obtain a primer pair and a probe therefor.;SOLUTION: The probe is a probe useful for assaying the mRNA encoding rat cytochrome P450 molecular species, and comprises, for example, an oligonucleotide to be hybridized with the domain of 624-650 domain of Cyp1al gene. The kit for assaying rat cytochrome P450 molecular species comprises, for example, a combination of the probe and the primer pair being a forward primer and a reverse primer composed of oligonucleotides to be hybridized with 601-622 domain and 675-652 domain of Cyp1a1 gene, respectively.
