PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for hydrodesulfurizing a fraction containing sulfur-containing compounds and olefins in the presence of a supported catalyst containing group 8 and group 6B elements.;SOLUTION: The method is one for hydrodesulfurizing a gasoline fraction in the presence of a catalyst which contains at least one group 8 element, at least one group 6B element, and a support having a specific surface area of below about 200 m²/g and in which the density of the group 6B element per unit surface area of the support is in the range of 4 x 10^-4 to 36 x 10^-4 g (in terms of an oxide of the group 6B element) per m² of the support.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
