PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a magnesium alloy casting excellent in corrosion resistance. PSOLUTION: The method of producing a magnesium alloy casting is provided with: a molten metal preparing stage where molten metal consisting essentially of Mg and at least comprising a rare earth element (R.E.) is prepared; a killing-holding stage where the molten metal after the molten metal preparing stage is killed and held; and a casting stage where the molten metal located on the upper part side after the killing-holding stage is cast. Thus, the magnesium alloy casting in which the concentration of Ni is low and the residual Ni is made harmless, and which has extremely excellent corrosion resistance can be obtained.
