PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor nanoparticle which has a fluorescent characteristic of emitting only bandgap fluorescence notably by stabilizing the surface of the semiconductor nanoparticle by modifying the surface with a hydroxy group or the like.;SOLUTION: There are provided the semiconductor nanoparticle having the fluorescent characteristic which bears on the surface thereof a modifying group represented by formula (1), its preparation method, and the semiconductor nanoparticle fluorescence reagent.
