Nanocrystalline Zn-doped CeO_2 (Ce_(1-x)Zn_xO_2, x= 0, 0.05, 0.10 (x% CZO)) were synthesized following a simple chemical precursor method. Structural analysis of the samples revealed their stable face-centred cubic (fcc) crystal structure of Fm3m space group. The optical band gap (E_g) in the samples showed a red shift from 3.30 eV to 3.16 eV with the increase in the Zn concentration from 0 to 10 wt%. Raman analysis confirmed the formation of oxygen vacancies (V_o) in the lattice due to Zn doping.
