PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic unit with which alignment can be easily and accurately executed without imposing a load on an operator. PSOLUTION: This ophthalmic unit is to adjust a measurement axis by moving the measurement axis in vertical and lateral directions so as to adjust a distance between a measurement part and the subject eye by moving the measurement part in a longitudinal direction. The unit is equipped with an alignment detection means with an index projecting optical system to form a corneal reflection image of the subject eye to be the index for alignment and an alignment index detection means to detect the formed alignment index to obtain an alignment condition, a first moving means to move the measurement part three-dimensionally to the subject eye by manual operation, a second moving means to further move the measurement part from a position moved by the first moving means by electrically controlling based on a detection result of the alignment index detecting means, and a control means to transmit a moving signal to the second moving means to move to automatic alignment and to actuate a suppressing means to suppress motion of the first moving means when the condition is decided that automatic alignment for the subject eye is possible based on a result detected by the alignment index detecting means.
