PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a replacing work on the state side where height levels of a car and a balance weight are different from each other, by temporarily installing a foothold for allowing a work for the balance weight in a hoist-way, using a workable floor that corresponds to a stopping position of the balance weight and is upper than a workable car stopping floor.;SOLUTION: First, a floor is previously recognized where a car 1 stops at a lower level and a balance weight 2 stops at an upper level and both the car 1 and the balance weight 2 can be hoisted, namely, a floor having an opening such as getting on/off door or an emergency door, connecting to a hoist-way allowing a desired work. Next, the car 1 is moved, and the upper part of a ceiling of the car 1 is used as a foothold to temporarily install a foothold 41 in a hoist-way for allowing a work movement from a corresponding floor (upper floor) having the previously recognized balance weight 2. Then, by moving the car 1 to a floor (lower floor) at the recognized position, the car 1 and the balance weight 2 are respectively stopped and fixed at positions on the previously recognized predetermined floor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
