PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side fork type elevator capable of exchanging an elevator rope with a low cost and simple adapter member, and always making the elevator a state of use without detaching it.;SOLUTION: The state of tension of the elevator rope 45 is released after an elevator car 32 is fixed, and a socket 37 at the end part of the elevator car 32 side is removed from the elevator car 32. The socket 37 is connected to the adapter member 50 after the adapter member 50 connected to the one end of the new elevator rope 45 for exchanging through the socket 37.
