PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle, a carrier and a catalytic component for addition polymerization, for producing a high-molecular weight addition polymer by the addition polymerization by using them in combination with a transition metal compound forming a single-site catalyst; to provide a method for producing the particle; to provide a catalyst for the addition polymerization using the particle; and to provide a method for producing the addition polymer by using the catalyst for the addition polymerization.;SOLUTION: The modified particle is obtained by bringing (a) M1L1m, (b) R1t-1TH and (c) R2t-2TH2 into contact with (d') a particle obtained by a contact treatment of (d) a particle with (a') R3t-1TH. (In the formulas, M1 is a group 1, 2, 12, 14 or 15 typical metal atom; m is a valence of M1; L1 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon group; R1 is an electron attracting group or a group containing the electron attracting group; R2 is a hydrocarbon group or a halogenated hydrocarbon group; R3 is a hydrocarbon group; T is a group 15 or 16 nonmetallic atom; and t is a valence of T).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
