摘要

This dissertation includes three chapters, each related to a chemistry project. The projects are based on applicable organic synthesis methods towards the intended compounds.;The focus of Chapter One is on synthesizing and testing a modified chiral auxiliary for asymmetric 1,4 conjugate addition reactions in solution. This work was included in the synthesis of both the auxiliary and a test conjugate system.;In Chapter Two, and in continuation of the work presented in Chapter One, the synthesis and evaluation of the above auxiliary in the form of polymer-supported resin for solid-phase counterpart are discussed.;Chapter Three is about design and synthesis of a series of functionalized oligothiophenes as potentials for making organoelectronic materials. This work is discussed and presented as a collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Labs and UC Davis' Gang-Yu Liu group.
