PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a dispensing technique for reliably spotting a biological sample on a solid phase.;SOLUTION: A head chip (12) applies a voltage pulse between a diaphragm and an individual electrode based on a drive control signal outputted from a head driver IC (313), and discharges a solution containing protein filled into a pressurization chamber due to the elastic deformation of the diaphragm. A drive pulse generation circuit (307) generates a drive voltage pulse for supplying to the head chip (12) to discharge the solution containing protein from the head driver (12). A drive current detection circuit (308) detects a drive current flowing between the diaphragm and an individual electrode. Waveform, a peak current value, and the like in a detection drive current differ depending on whether a discharge state is normal or abnormal. Therefore, failure in discharge can be discriminated by detecting this sort of change. An appropriate protein chip can be manufactured by utilizing a discharge mechanism having an appropriate discharge state and spotting the solution containing protein on the substrate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
