PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To orient a crystal for obtaining, to the utmost, characteristics which originate in the crystal structure having large electromagnetic anisotropy of the layered cobalt oxide NaxCoO2 having high thermoelectric conversion efficiency stable at high temperatures.;SOLUTION: The whisker crystal of the layered cobalt oxide NaxCoO2 is produced. The method of producing the cobalt oxide whisker crystal comprises the steps of: preparing a sodium-cobalt-potassium-oxide by calcining a raw material containing a sodium source, a cobalt source and a potassium source; and then firing the sodium-cobalt-potassium-oxide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
