PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a super fine particle of titanium dioxide composed of practically a brookite phase using titanium tetrachloride and hydrochloric acid aqueous solution, nitric acid aqueous solution or the mixed solution thereof.;SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the super fine particle of titanium dioxide includes a step (a) for preparing a water-based TiOCl2 mother liquid by adding the hydrochloric acid aqueous solution, nitric acid aqueous solution or their mixed solution having adjusted concentration into th titanium tetrachloride solution and a step (b) for preparing a precipitation solution in which the concentration of Ti4+ and acid is adjusted by adding the hydrochloric acid, the nitric acid, their mixed solution having adjusted concentration or distilled water into the mother liquid obtained in the step (a) at a room temperature. The manufacturing method further includes a step (c) for leaving the precipitation solution obtained in the step (b) as it is to form TiO2 precipitate, a step (d) for separating the precipitate obtained in the step (c) and adding an alkali aqueous solution to adjust the pH of the solution and a step (e) for separating the precipitate in the solution obtained in the step (d) and drying.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
