PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an inverse discrete Fourier arithmetic method using a small circuit scale by reducing an arithmetic quantity for inverse discrete Fourier transforms, having a large number of points to generate an intermittent type orthogonal multicarrier signal. SOLUTION: In the case of generating intermittent type orthogonal multicarrier signals, where information is transmitted with 16 carriers in total at an interval of 4 carriers, 16-point IDFT transform is conducted, the result is utilized for 64-point IDFT transform, and the 64-point IDFT transform is calculated by 5th and 6th stages that are the latter half of a 64-point IDFT arithmetic unit. Thus, the IDFT transform is conducted with less number of points than that of a conventional method in the first half, that is, from the 1st to the 4th stages and the desired intermittent type orthogonal multicarrier signals can be generated in the arithmetic method adopting a smaller circuit scale.
