PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rotation-angle sensor by which the rotation angle of a rotating body can be detected with high accuracy,. by a method wherein magnetic information is recorded in a code plate which is engaged with the rotating body by a gear part so as to be turned, and the information is detected by a detecting element. ;SOLUTION: Code plates 17, 18 in which pieces of magnetic information composed of a plurality of magnetic poles (N-S) are recorded are arranged so as to be engaged with gear parts 13b, 15b of rotating bodies 13, 15 whose center of rotation is identical, and which can be turned individually. A holder 22 to which Hall elements (detecting elements) 20, 21 used to detect the pieces of magnetic information are attached is arranged near the code plates. A rotation-angle sensor S which is constituted in this manner detects the rotation angle of the rotating bodies 13, 15, while the pieces of information in the code plates 17, 18 which are turned by following the rotation of the rotating bodies 13, 15 are detected by the detecting elements 20, 21. As a result, the code plates 17, 18 and the rotating bodies 13, 15 can be formed as separate bodies, and a load is not applied to the code plates 17, 18 even when an unreasonable load is applied to the rotating bodies 13, 15 so as to be dislocated.
