PURPOSE: To provide a shunt regulator for which a current is limited independent of power supply characteristics and energy consumption when a shunt switch is on is less. ;CONSTITUTION: The serial connection of a shunt switch FET and an inductive means LD is provided and a shunt parallelly connected to a load EL and a power supply SA and a current limiting means CLM for generating analog control signals ACTRL to be supplied to the control electrode of the shunt switch FET are provided. The shunt switch FET is an electric field effect transistor, the current limiting means CLM is provided with the negative feedback loop of FCC, DM, FET, LD, and CSR connected between a current sensing resistor CSR and the control electrode so as to adjust the analog control signals ACTRL to make a voltage drop between both terminals of the current sensing resistor CSR be lower than the maximum voltage drop and the inductive means LD, is connected to the source electrode of the electric field effect transistor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
