Use of the following groups of compounds or their compositions for the preparation of medicaments for the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, such compounds having general formula: A-X₁—NO₂ or their salts, where A=R(COX)_t and where t is an integer 0 or 1; X═O, NH, NR_1c, where R_1c is a linear or branched alkyl having from 1 to 10 C atoms; R is (IA) where t=1 and X₁ is equal to —YO— where Y is a C₁-C₂₀ alkylene, C₅-C₇ cycloalkyl or oxyalkyl derivatives.
