The invention relates to a method for producing a solution of tanning agents containing sulfone.In said method, (a) a component is produced as follows: A1) phenol is reacted with concentrated sulfuric acid or oleum with a content of only ~ 3 ~ between 20 and 65% by weight,Or with a mixture of sulphuric acid and oleum with a content of only ~ 3 ~ between 20 and 65% by weight, by means of the molar ratio of sulfuric acid total, calculated in the form of only ~ 3 ~, for phenol.It is between 0.7: 1 and 1.5: 1, at a temperature between 100 and 180 198 C, to obtain a mixture containing phenolsulfonic acid, diidroxidifenil sulfone and sulphuric acid.Or the individual components are mixed to produce a corresponding mixture; A2) said mixture is condensed subsequ00b3entemente between 40 and 90 198 C per mol of units of phenyl present with ENBetween 0.25 and 4 mol of urea and between 0.5 and 4 mol of an aliphatic aldehyde comprising between 1 and 6 C atoms.A3) optionally a pH value between 4 and 5 is adjusted by the addition of a base; (b) a component B is produced as follows: B1) diidroxidifenil sulfone is interacted with between 0.5 and 5 mol of an aliphatic aldehyde comprising from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and between 0.4 and 2 mol of sodium sulphite per mol of diidroxidifenil sulfone.At a temperature between 90 and 180 198 C; b) optionally a pH between 3.5 and 5.5 is adjusted by the addition of an acid.(c) between 10 and 90% by weight of the component to be mixed with from 90 to 10% by weight of the component B (the sum of a and B amounting to 100% by weight), and if not already done in steps A3 and B2)The pH value of the mixture is adjusted to between 3.5 and 5.5.
