The present invention relates to the use of mono- and disulfo-substituted anthraquinones for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition intended for treating pathologic states in which the erosion of the cartilaginous and bone matrix occurs. Disclosed are also the compounds of the above indicated group, process of their preparation as well as pharmaceutical composition in which these compounds are comprised.
