Process for the preparation of unsymmetrical 4,6-bis(aryloxy)pyrimidine compounds and intermediate for making the same

In the present invention, there is provided a process for the preparation of unsymmetrical 4,6-bis(aryloxy)pyrimidine compounds of the general formula I by reacting a 4,6-dihalopyrimidine compound with a first phenol compound to obtain a 4-halogen-6-(aryloxy)pyrimidine compound. The obtained 4-halogen-6-(aryloxy)pyrimidine containing is then brought into reaction with a trialkyl amine or a heterocyclic amine to give an ammonium halide compound of the general formula V wherein Qe+ represents a trialkyl ammonium or a heterocyclic ammonium compound. The compound of the general formula V is subsequently brought into reaction with a second phenol compound. These unsymmetrical 4,6-bis(aryloxy)pyrimidine compounds are useful as pesticidal agents.
