The fabrication of superconductors by laser zone fusion consists of application of electric current during growth of the fibres of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system superconductors. The microstructure obtained significantly increases the critical current density of the fibres, with production of single- and multi-filament devices by optical division of the laser beam.
