METHOD FOR FAST DETERMINING CHARACTERISTICS OF RADIOACTIVE AEROSOLS

The proposed method for fast determining characteristics of radioactive aerosols consists in passing air with aerosols through a bag filter, which contains several layers of filtering material with known parameters that characterize deposition of aerosols, and measuring the radioactivity of aerosols deposited at each layer. The proposed method differs in that the air with aerosols passes preliminarily through an impactor providing separation of particles by dimensions within the micron and submicron ranges, and that at the outputs of the impactor corresponding to the said particle dimension ranges, two-layer filters are installed that provide complete retaining of particles. To determine thecharacteristics of radioactive aerosols, a set of eight integral equations is used.
