Biological reactor for the oxidation of Fe (II) to Fe (III). It consists of a reservoir in which the reactor core is located. This core comprises a central tube in which the conduits for thermostatting are located and on which a structure designed to support the cylinders is attached, into which the support units for the microorganism will be introduced. These units consist of small pieces of polyurethane, which are introduced in PVC cylinders, divided into compartments to prevent crushing of the support units. These cylinders can be extracted to proceed to the renewal of the support units contained inside, without the need to empty the reactor. The reactor has low maintenance and cost, allowing different production regimes, and the possibility of making long-term shutdowns (more than 60 days), with a very short restart (between 24 and 36 hours).
