The road surface and bridging surfaces over expansion joints (10), such as at bridges and the like, has two edge profiles (5) flanking the expansion joint (10). Blades between the edge profiles allow a variable gap (S) between them. Parallel sealing strips (9), under the blade structure, seal the gap (S) in the expansion joint (10) at the top. At the road surface (2), a hat profile strip has an upwards center member (8) which does not project over the upper surface (13) of the edge profiles (5).
