Disclosed are (1) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a novel mutant PLCgamma-2 protein which, when expressed in a mammal is capable of enhancing the inflammation response and suppressing male fertility; (2) the mutant PLCgamma-2 protein which includes at least one amino acid residue substitution corresponding to residue 993 of the normal PLCgamma-2 protein; (3) a cell line or strain transfected with said nucleic acid sequence; (4) compositions comprising said nucleic acid or said protein and (5) a transgenic non-human comprising said DNA and protein.
