PURPOSE: Provided are a binder for a high capacity lithium sulfur battery, which is excellent in binding force and chemical resistance. A cathode active material composition containing the binder, and the lithium sulfur battery produced by using the binder are also provided. CONSTITUTION: The binder for the lithium sulfur battery contains an acrylonitrile containing copolymer represented by the formula 1 and additionally a fluorine-based polymer, wherein x is 0, 5y40, 60z95; 60x95, 5y40, z is 0; or 20x75, 5y20, 20z75. And the cathode active material composition for the lithium sulfur battery contains a cathode active material containing a sulfur-based compound, a conductive material, an organic solvent, 2-6wt% of the binder dispersed in the organic solvent in the form of emulsion of less than 15 micrometer, and a viscosity controller.
