A Penicillium cyclopium sp. and a process for producing a compactin using the same

PURPOSE: A microorganism Penicillium cyclopium sp. and a process for producing compactin using the same are provided, thereby producing compactin having therapeutic effect for hyperlipidemia from the microorganism. CONSTITUTION: A microorganism Penicillium cyclopium sp. CJ-20030(KFCC-11314) producing compactin is provided, wherein Penicillium cyclopium sp. CJ-20030(KFCC-11314) is isolated from the soil; and the compactin has the structures represented by formulas (1), (2) and (3). A process for producing compactin comprises the steps of: culturing Penicillium cyclopium sp. CJ-20030(KFCC-11314) and recovering compacting from the cultured medium.
