DRIVING METHOD FOR ELECTRON EMITTING DEVICE BY APPLYING DRIVING VOLTAGE LOWER THAN MAXIMUM APPLIED VOLTAGE BETWEEN CATHODE AND OPPOSED ELECTRODE, DRIVING METHOD FOR ELECTRON SOURCE, MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR ELECTRON SOURCE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS
PURPOSE: A driving method for an electron emitting device, a driving method for an electron source, a manufacturing method for an electron source, and an image display apparatus are provided to achieve improved uniformity of electron emission characteristics of electron emitting device. CONSTITUTION: A driving method for an electron emitting device comprises a step of applying a driving voltage lower than a maximum applied voltage between a cathode and an opposed electrode so as to drive electron emitting members, in cases where a maximum voltage applied between the cathode and the opposed electrode prior to start of driving is the maximum applied voltage. A method for driving an electron source comprises a step of applying a voltage higher than a driving voltage to a first electron emitting member in such a manner that the characteristics of the first electron emitting member become near the characteristics of the second electron emitting member; and a step of applying a driving voltage lower than a maximum applied voltage between a cathode and an opposed electrode so as to drive electron emitting elements.
