PURPOSE: A glycerol-3-phosphate phosphatase from Emericella nidulans, a polynucleotide encoding the same, a vector containing the polynucleotide and a method for producing glycerol using the same vector are provided, which polypeptide and polypeptide thereof are effectively used in the recombinant glycerol biosynthesis pathway, so that the production yield of glycerol can be improved. CONSTITUTION: The polypeptide having glycerol-3-phosphate phosphatase activity, and 80% homology to the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2 is provided. The polynucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1 is provided. The polynucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2 is provided. A vector pCJP-008 contains the polynucleotide wherein the polynucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 and the polynucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2 are operatively linked to the suitable control sequence. A transformant is produced by transforming a host cell with the vector pCJP-008, wherein the host cell is Escherichia sp. or E. coli. The method for producing glycerol comprises culturing the transformant in a suitable medium, and collecting glycerol from the cultured medium.
