PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for compensating image data in a plasma display panel and a plasma display panel equipment with the apparatus for compensating the image data are provided to increase color reproductivity of each sub-field by creating compensation data corresponding to an automatic power control stage according to the number of sub-fields. CONSTITUTION: An address generator(200) generates address data corresponding to compensation data outputted from a controller(300) to send it to an address electrode of a plasma display panel. The controller is composed of an average signal level calculator(310), an image data compensating unit(320), an automatic power controller(330), and a sub-field generator(340). The average signal level calculator(310) measures a load factor of an image signal inputted from the external. The image data compensating unit receives the number of sub-fields feedback from the automatic power controller and compensates image data with reference to a compensation table corresponding to the number of sub-fields to send the compensated image data to the image data compensating unit. The automatic power controller outputs pulse information and the number of sub-fields corresponding to the load factor. The sub-field generator creates sub-field data corresponding to each image data.
