摘要

PURPOSE: A method for removing the catalyst remaining in a high molecular weight polymer and a high molecular weight polymer refined by the method are provided, to remove a metal compound catalyst remaining in the polymer solution polymerized by solution polymerization. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding a solution where at least one chelate is dissolved to a high molecular weight polymer solution to precipitate the metal compound present in the high molecular weight polymer or the high molecular weight polymer solution and to form a chelate compound; and adding a filtering material to the chelate compound to remove precipitant. Preferably the chelate is a compound having at least one hydroxyl group and at least two carboxylic acid groups represented by the formula 1, wherein i is 0, 1 or 2; j is 0, 1, 2 or 3; k is 0, 1 or 2; R1, R2, R4 and R5 are H or an alkyl group of C1-C5; and R3 is H, an alkyl group of C1-C5 or a carboxylic acid group.
