摘要

PURPOSE: A method for preparing a low molecular weight olefin (co)polymer, a catalyst for the polymerization of an olefin and a transition metal compound of group 4 are provided, to obtain a low molecular weight olefin (co)polymer having a narrow distribution of molecular weight and low melting point with high productivity. CONSTITUTION: The transition metal compound of group 4 is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1 to R14 are identical or different one another and are H, a hydrocarbon group or a Si-containing group; substituents adjacent to R1 to R14 can combine to form a ring together; M is Ti, Zr or Hf; Y is an atom of group 14; Q's are identical or different one another and are selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a neutral, conjugated or unconjugated diene of C10 or less, an anion ligand and a neutral ligand capable of being coordinated with a lone pair electrode; n is an integer of 2-4; and j is an integer of 1-4. The catalyst comprises the transition metal compound of the formula 1; and at least one kind of compound selected from the group consisting of an organometallic compound, an organoaluminum compound, an organic aluminum oxy compound and a compound reacting with the transition metal compound of the formula 1 to form an ion pair.
