PURPOSE: A semi-transmission reflection film and a liquid crystal display device based on the same are provided to improve luminance of the liquid crystal display device by efficiently reflecting external incident light. CONSTITUTION: A semi-transmission reflection film(12) includes an opening(32) formed to closely adjoin an edge(36a) of a rectangular shaped pixel region(36). The distance(t2) between three sides(32a) of four sides of the opening and the edge of the pixel region is set within the range narrower than the width of one of recesses(31) formed in the semi-transmission reflection film. Since the semi-transmission reflection film obtains reflexibility per unit based on a certain number of recesses, for example, four recesses in horizontal and vertical directions, the recesses that little contribute to light-reflection can be reduced at the minimum range by setting the distance between the sides and the edge of the pixel region within the range narrower than the width of one of recesses.
