PURPOSE: A method for providing an effect sound service during a call in a communication system is provided to connect a caller terminal or a callee terminal without going by way of an ARS server and allow a user to use various effect sounds during call communication. CONSTITUTION: A caller attempts a call(201). An origination exchange checks whether the caller and a callee have been subscribed for a service(202). If either the caller or the callee has been subscribed for the service, the origination exchange connects the call of the caller to an effect sound sending and managing server(203). The effect sound sending and managing server attempts connection to a destination exchange(204) and then attempts call connection to a destination terminal(205). If the destination terminal is hooked off, a corresponding signal is transmitted to an origination terminal(206-209) and the origination/destination terminals are connected(210). When the caller presses a specific button, a corresponding DTMF signal is generated and transmitted to the effect sound sending managing server(211,212). The effect sound sending and managing server recognizes the DTMF signal(213), searches a corresponding sound source(214,215), and mixes it with a voice of the caller(216). When a DTMF signal is generated from the caller during the call connection, the effect sound sending and managing server analyzes it(213), searches sound source information(214,215), mixes it with a call voice signal of the caller(216), and simultaneously sends the effect sound source mixed with the voice of the caller to the caller and the callee(217-220).
