METHOD FOR PREPARING CROSSLINKED POLYSTYRENE PARTICLES BY PRECIPITATION POLYMERIZATION TO INCREASE PARTICLE DIAMETER SO AS TO BE USEFULLY APPLIED TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OR PRECISION EQUIPMENT
PURPOSE: A method for preparing crosslinked polystyrene particles is provided to increase the particle diameter and form a stabilized spheric shape. The crosslinked polystyrene particles can be advantageously used in various fields as a standard material for calibration of an analysis device, a column filler for chromatography and a supporter used in a biochemical field. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing crosslinked polystyrene particles by means of precipitation polymerization comprises the use of a styrene monomer, a solvent, a crosslinking agent and a polymerization initiator, wherein the solvent is singly acetonitrile, or a mixture of acetonitrile as a main solvent and an organic solvent with solubility parameter of 8.5-15(cal/cm¬3)1/2 or water as a cosolvent, wherein the crosslinking agent is a mixture of one or two compounds selected from divinyl benzene or acrylates, and wherein the precipitation polymerization is carried out under the conditions of 40-90deg.C at 10-200rpm of a stirring speed for 6-48 hours.
