β-sitosterol having cholesterol-lowering effect and suppressing effect of fat cell multiplication and process for the preparation thereof

PURPOSE: Provided are β-sitosterol derivative represented by the formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. The compounds lower cholesterol and inhibit the growth of fat cell. CONSTITUTION: A preparation method of β-sitosterol derivative comprises: obtaining a compound of the formula(b) by reacting β-sitosterol and a compound represented by the formula(a) in presence of acid; converting the compound of the formula(b) into a compound of the formula(c) in the presence of base; and deprotecting the compound of the formula(b) with transition metal, palladium, to obtain the compound of the formula(1).
