FIELD: technology for researching two-phase mixtures.;SUBSTANCE: device for measuring time of spreading of acoustic wave in continuous phase of two-phase mixture containing continuous phase and dispersion phase, in form of drops in continuous phase, has electro-acoustic converter, generating acoustic waves and forming signals of reflected acoustic waves at output, means capable of determining time of signal spreading on basis of converter signal and means for focusing acoustic waves and adjusting frequency of acoustic waves for providing for reflection of waves from drops of disperse phase, which are placed in focusing area. Method includes emitting focused acoustic waves into continuous phase, while frequency of acoustic wave is adjusted for creating reflection on drops of disperse phase, which are placed in focus area, recording of first signals of waves reflected from drops is performed, time of wave spreading on basis of reflected signals is determined, and speed of spreading is calculated with consideration of spreading time and focusing distance of an acoustic wave.;EFFECT: possible performing of measurements without interrupting separation process and without extracting any samples of two-phase mixture, no changing of main operation mode of device during measurements and no effect on hydraulic operation mode of separating equipment and no change to two-phase mixture characteristics according to the method.;2 cl, 8 dwg
