The gearbox control method involves controlling a drive machine that is at least indirectly coupled to the gearbox for each gear that can be engaged in accordance with a revolution rate (n)/torque (M) characteristic that is associated with the relevant gear ratio for at least part of the overall revolution rate/torque operating range of the drive machine.
