A shock absorber (SA) has first (6) and second (7) sectional areas interlinked by a hydraulic circuit (HC) (9). In a first sectional branch (10) of the hydraulic circuit, a first switching valve (12) is assigned to the first sectional area of the SA. As an option, a second switching valve (13) can be assigned to the SA's second sectional area in a second sectional branch of the HC. An Independent claim is also included for a method for operating a vehicle spring system.
