A front fender protector (3) fits on a motor vehicle's (2) nose (1) so that it is positioned in front a vehicle's front bumper/fender (5) with regard to the vehicle's direction of travel (4). A drive device (7) adjusts the front fender protector by lowering automatically into a protective position, if the vehicle reaches or exceeds a relatively low limiting speed, e.g. 30 km/h.
