Shock absorber, esp. for aircraft landing gear has hydro-pneumatic damper with gas filled piston, moving into cylinder ring chamber, and hydraulic fluid-filled cylinder, for separate hydraulic damping and pneumatic shock absorption
The shock absorber has a hydro-pneumatic damper with piston (12) and cylinder (20). The piston has a closed gas-filled inner chamber (14), and moves with its wall into a cylinder ring chamber (18). The cylinder interior (22) is also filled with hydraulic fluid and contains a second cylinder (24), which is moved in and out by draining and intake of hydraulic fluid. The piston wall has a wide section (16) on its edge, engaging sealing inside the ring chamber. Throttle apertures for fluid passage are located in the wide section. The piston has a base (38) sealing the gas chamber, and sliding between two stops (26,40).
